PJH Civil Engineers policy will comply with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, any legislation and client standards relevant to the activities undertaken by the company.

Our objectives are to:

Ensure a safe, healthy and secure working environment for staff, contractors and others affected by our activities.

Create a safe railway environment.

Reduce loss due to accidents, fire, property damage and environmental pollution.

Assess the risks associated with the company activities and by elimination, substitution or safe systems of work reduce to an acceptable level.

Monitor, through regular inspections and audits, our compliance with legislation and organisational standards.

Environmental Policy Statement
PJH Civil Engineers are committed to reducing the impact its Civil Engineering and Construction activities have on the environment.

To this end PJH Civil Engineers will apply the requirements of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System to continuously improve its environmental performance.

In order to meet this commitment PJH Civil Engineers will undertake the following objectives:

Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental legislation

Reduce emissions and pollution

Improve waste management practices

Reduce consumption of natural resources

Minimise noise and other nuisances

Continuously monitor environmental performance

The necessary personnel and financial resources will be allocated to assist the company in meeting its environmental objectives.

Employees will be given such information, training, instruction and equipment as necessary to enable them to undertake their work safety.

Effective communication is fundamental to achieving these objectives and environmental matters will be discussed with staff at meetings/briefings. Suggestions on ways to lessen any detrimental effect of work activities on the environment are welcome from all staff.

Any organisation contracted to us is expected to share our commitment to the environment and ensure they achieve a similar commitment from their employees and sub-contractors.

Environmental accidents/Incidents will be investigated to establish cause and measures taken to prevent recurrence.
